I've recently been watching all of my old Jackie Chan movies. Dragons Forever, Wheels on Meals, Project A I and II, Police Story 1–3, Armor of God...the list goes on. This is the stuff that started it all for me. I remember the excitement I used to get when I got my hands on a poorly dubbed version of any of the above. An extremely important part of the VHS era for me was hunting these down in Seattle's Chinatown or getting scammed from some overseas video company I stumbled across in a Blackbelt or Inside Kung Fu Magazine. "ONLY $39.95 for Dragons Forever on VHS!!! What?! I'll take it!!!" Only to find it was some terrible dub of a dub of a dub of a dub of dubbed dub. Now all kids have to do is google it, enter your mom's credit card number and VOILA! A crispy, fresh, clean DVD with superb picture quality right at your doorstep. Well, I earned my viewings dammit! And I'm damn proud of that. Ok, rant over. It didn't matter as long as I could play, stop, rewind the fight scenes as much as I pleased. Eventually I started making mix-tapes of my own. It is such inspiring stuff to watch, especially now that I'm a bit older and can appreciate what goes on behind the camera. These guys will always be the best. Even with Donnie Yen and a few others trying their best to keep things alive in Hong Kong...I don't think they'll ever be able to do it the way Jackie, Sammo, and Biao did it back in the day. Whether that be their intent or not, it can never be done again. They're living legends, I tell ya. Now lets go watch UNDEFEATED!!! Kidding. Please, no. Instead we watch Jackie sing!

Quite the productive weekend. It's always nice to do the things that you wanna do. I got a pretty large chunk of foley done for An Act Of Revenge. Cut, paste, trim and reverb! Audio design seems to be neverendingly painful at times. But when you've been working for hours and hours the playback is definitely worth the battle. Things are looking and sounding great. I'll continue my labor of love this week with my headphones strapped on tightly and a few shots of "Finish this movie already, will you?!" by my side. KAMPAI!!!

Another Kurt Cobain movie. I'm a big fan of Nirvana but I don't know how I feel about this one. Seems like a cool idea but actually pulling it off is another story. We'll have to wait and see.

Definitely one of the greatest and most creative stunt-actors ever. You can undeniably see the influence with many of Jackie Chan's legendary stunts. This video is truly inspiring. Thank you Buster! ... and Radiohead.

This band is probably one of my favorite discoveries of 2007; The Fasion. The lead singer is creatively talented Jakob Printzlau known to the art and design community as Plastic Kid. He is truly inspiring to me being passionate about all of art, design, music and film. He directs most of if not all their videos and a fine job at that. Concept, concept, concept! Their videos and tracks are executed without fault having the slightest touches of "cool" that make them perfect. They're nothing short of top notch productions in my book. I hope one day to collaborate with these guys! Here are a few examples...

I own this movie on VHS and just recently DVD. Although its never the consensus that this film is "great" or even "good" it definitely has some of the most inspiring performances I've held onto for quite sometime.

The awkward and quirky bit characters like Billy Bob Thorton as a run-down service station yokel, John Voight as the street-corner sage and the off beat real-estate tycoon played by Nick Nolte–I can't get enough! Oh, and its got phenomenal performances from the uber talented Sean Penn and an eager Jennifer Lopez before she got J-Lo'd. Netflix it if you haven't seen it.

Recently, the members of Infinite Quest Productions have experienced quite a few fortunate events inspiring the creation of this here blog. 2007 has been a very productive year for all of our members. Here's a quick recap of the latest and greatest.

SHAUN MAYOR Rocks the Bells

From July 21st through August 22nd, our favorite Director of Photography, Shaun Mayor had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel around the U.S. with some of the greatest Hip-Hop legends of all time. He was invited to join the Rock the Bells 2007 documentary crew. Read more about Shaun's adventures HERE.

FAST FRIDAY a documentary by DAVID ROWE

David Rowe has been very busy these past few months cutting, pasting, slicing, and dicing footage for his documentary about the Fixed Gear Bicycle scene in Seattle titled, Fast Friday. His work in progress has been accepted to a handful of bicycle film festival around the country and even Tokyo, Japan. David and his super-awesome girlfriend Wandala will be traveling to the far East in December to represent Infinite Quest to the fullest. Good Luck Dave and Wandy!

The World Premier of BOOKIE

The short film Bookie, from our brothers at Persistence of Vision Films, premiered September 15th 2007. It was a hugely enjoyable collaboration amongst friends, new and old. It featured Ken Quitugua as Bookie, Shaun Mayor as the Director of Photography, David Rowe as the Documentarian, with Peter Famatid and Thomas Williams helping out on set in any way they could. The premier was a huge success and we are all very proud to have worked on such a polished final product. Much respect goes out to anyone and everyone that was involved with the production of this film. We can hardly wait for the next opportunity to work together again.
